Honestly, very few people can deny the resemblance of the way a gated community member lives today and the majestic lifestyle of the affluent British lords or noblemen of the years past. Their chateau or villa were walled and there were watch guards stationed at important points for their personal security. Although what differentiates the inhabitants of these gated communities from the US and their counterparts in the UK is that they desire to spend life in comfort but are not Lords or Viscounts.

And those who are lovers of golf love these communities even more. They have the opportunity to live nearby a golf course or right in the midst of one. Many gated golf communities in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and elsewhere are built around championship-type golf courses. The big names in real estate are now trying to cash in on the escalating demand from people to live in the heart of greenery and they are thus constructing such properties.

Actually, the property value of a gated community is quite a bit on the higher side, but the facilities they offer make up for that extra bit. Someone staying here can opt for a game of tennis, swim in the pool, eat out at the restaurants and have a drink in the bar and try a hand at golf absolutely anytime he or she wishes. The amenities are taken care of by the dwellers themselves by forming a Homeowner’s association to carry out the maintenance job efficiently. Therefore, they are neatly maintained and this again hikes its overall worth.

The demographic survey report collected in 2000 reveals that about 8 million United States citizens have opted to stay in these communities, which had been the homes of just the retired and the seniors earlier. This is a startling figure because it means that almost 1 out every 8 person in the US now stay in such a community. A deeper probe discloses that even the young couples are preferring them as they want to relax in the fresh air during the weekend and go back to work completely refreshed.

Living in a close knit, tight security without public interference is what principally made a gated community so popular. With time however, the pattern of living in these communities has changed and they are now open to people of similar mental compatibility. And of course, there are a huge number of people who simply love these planned places, the amenities and the security and privacy these places offer.
